Intercoms are a neccessary part of any rally car. With all of the focus rally requires on the part of the driver and co driver, worrying about the intercom connection is just a distraction to the success of the effort. Make sure the your rally intercom is installed correctly and is compatible with both the driver and co driver helmets. Checking this ahead of time will elimnate one more reason for a DNF.
