JT Taylor will iron man the #313 in the new Ultra4 Class with co-drivers Doug Nagy, Scott Estrada and Ryan Scott taking on different sections. “Since we ran last year in the Evolution 4x4 class and won, they called it a success and are allowing an Ultra4 class this year,” explained JT Taylor who will be running his 4th straight NORRA 1000 event. “I always say this is the funnest race on the planet, and I mean it! It is a well-run race, and getting better every year. Mike Pearlman and the crew do a great job and I look forward to seeing them at the start line and finish line every day!” The final prep on the car is done and is already in route to the sunny beaches from the Colorado winter. “The car is in pretty good shape from the King of the Hammers, all I did between it and Moab Easter Jeep Safari was wash it,” said JT. “I did change the Goodyear tires from 40’s to the 37’s for this race and put on a new set of awesome Rigid Lights. The first few days are really long and if we do have any problems they may come in handy if I end up having to run in the dark. And, if I don’t use them, I’ll certainly look cool,” chuckled JT Taylor. “I learned a lot in the race last year and the one thing that is going to be much different this year is our pit and chase strategy,” commented JT. “From there it is just keeping the car together for four days of fun. Fun racing, and fun in the evenings talking to all the legends of the sport.” His chase crew will be composed of Sam Spenser in Heavy Chase and Scott Estrada in light chase along with his co-drivers. The NORRA 1000 Schedule of events starts on Saturday April 27th with the Tech and Drivers meeting. Sunday April 28th is Rally Day 1 going from Mexicali to Bahia de Los Angeles. Monday April 29th for Rally Day 2 they go from Bahia de Los Angeles to Loreto. Tuesday April 30th on Rally Day 3 they continue from Loreto to La Paz. Rally Day 4 is on Wednesday May 1st when they do a fun jump from La Paz to San Jose del Cabo for the finish and South Point Seaside Post Party awards and fireworks show. The full list of Ultra4 competitors can be found at http://norra.com/vehicle-entries.php?page=4 Although not a vintage car, the car known as ‘Ol Blue has a lot of history. The OG13 King of the Hammers racer JT Taylor is always trying to extend the boundaries for the Ultra4 style of vehicle first with Hill Climb racing including the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and the first to complete the NORRA Mexican 1000 in Baja, Mexico. JT Taylor #13 ran in a brand new class called the Evolution 4x4 Class. In 2010 JT Taylor was the driver and co-driver in the #11 Elf Dirt Sports Car taking 2nd in class, and 2011 he co-drove for the 1982 Raceco Car with Marty Fiolka where they placed 1st in class. Last year, 2012, JT Taylor took first in the Evolution 4x4 class adding yet another badge of honor to his resume. JT Taylor Team page: http://www.facebook.com/RacerJTTaylor
