46mm Universal Motorsports Strut. Designed by BILSTEIN motorsports engineers, built in house by Streetwise. Four strokes (5.8”, 6.8”, 7.8” and 8.8”) and four valving options. $725 each, one per corner of the car (not a pair). Lead time is typically 4 to 6 weeks.

Car builders and fabricators in rally, sports car, SCCA and other motorsports have a unique shock option in this universal motorsports strut line, designed by BILSTEIN motorsports engineers and built in house by Streetwise. Each strut is built around the BILSTEIN monotube strut insert, with BILSTEIN internal parts, outer housing seals and bushings. The design features BILSTEIN’s inverted tube technology and offers a wide selection of travel lengths and valving options, for building custom chassis where a bolt-on application would not work. This semi-complete package can be adapted to most MacPherson strut suspension systems. Each strut is supplied with a matched external housing that permits the builder to fabricate weld tabs for mounting the unit to a vehicle’s lower steering knuckle. The strut insert is provided with a blank upper-stem that can be machined down to fit a specific top mount or camber/caster plate variation. Utilizing the same technological design advantages as BILSTEIN gas pressure shock absorbers, the monotube strut insert is installed with the piston rod at the base of the strut tube. Here the rod is completely protected from road contamination of any kind. Plus, the hard-chromed steel body of the damper provides superior strength to withstand the extreme side loads encountered in competition, delivering exceptional stability and greater performance.
What do those valving numbers mean?
The number format is as follows, Rebound/Compression in newtons of force at .5 m/s divided by 10. An example of this would be: 380/180 Valving is 3800 newtons of Rebound force and 1800 newtons of Compression force at a shaft speed of .5 meters per second. This drawing supplies all of the dimensions you should be looking for on the 46mm Universal Struts. Use these dimensions to determine the best fit for your application.
